Terms of use
The rules of the road
Last updated 1 November 2026. By creating an account or using Pictoglot you agree to these terms.
Using Pictoglot
Pictoglot turns photos of Chinese text into explanations, lessons and practice. It is for personal, non-commercial learning. You need an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it, so keep your password safe.
Your photos and content
You keep ownership of your photos and everything you add. You give us permission to store them and to process them, including by sending them to our AI provider, solely to run Pictoglot for you. Only upload photos you took or have the right to use, and avoid photos of people's faces, documents showing someone else's personal details, or anything illegal.
AI output can be wrong
Translations, lessons and role plays are written by AI and can contain mistakes, including wrong readings, tones, meanings and cultural notes. They are a study aid. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, safety or financial decisions, or for anything where a mistake would matter; check with a qualified person or a native speaker.
Plans and limits
The free plan has daily limits on AI uses, and limits may change. When paid plans are offered, subscriptions are bought through your Apple account, renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple ID subscription settings. Prices, billing period and any free trial are shown before you buy, and refunds are handled by Apple.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service: no attempts to break or overload it, to get around limits, to reach other people's data, to scrape it, or to use it to make anything harmful or unlawful. We may suspend an account that does.
Ending things
You can stop at any time and delete your account in Settings. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we may change or stop parts of the service; if we end it altogether we will give notice where we reasonably can.
No guarantees, and limits on our liability
Pictoglot is provided as it is, without promises that it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will say so in the app when the change matters; carrying on using Pictoglot after that means you accept the new terms. Questions: support@pictoglot.com.
